Gabion-Vertical Slope Protectionare is a  wire mesh baskets filled with rock at the project site to  provide an aesthetic method for retaining earth or controlling rock falling .Gabion strength lies in their double twisted hexagonal mesh of steel wire which is reinforced by selvedges of heavier wire running along the edges and by transverse diaphragms. The wire will not unravel even when cut. Assembly is easy, requiring no specialized labor and nearby rock is used for fill.
Slope gabions are available with different levels of protecting coating for durability. fabricated from welded wire fabric or twisted hexagonal mesh zinc or PVC (polyvinyl chloride) coated wire. Filled with stone, gabions become large, flexible and permeable elements from which a broad range of structures can be built (retaining walls, river bank protection, weirs, etc.).
